About Dr. Reddy

Dr. Praveen Gajendrareddy (known to patients as Dr. Reddy) is the periodontist at Dental Salon, serving patients at both our Lincoln Park, Chicago and Schaumburg offices. He is a board-certified specialist in periodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology; he provides surgical dental implant placement and performs advanced gum treatment. He serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontics at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry, where he leads research in wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Education & publications

He received his BDS from Dr. M.G.R Medical University in Chennai, India, a PhD in Oral Biology from The Ohio State University, and his certificate in Periodontics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Reddy is a published author in peer-reviewed clinical journals, with numerous publications to his credit.

Gum disease treatment and implant surgery

Dr. Reddy takes the periodontal cases at both the Lincoln Park and Schaumburg offices: pockets that keep bleeding after scaling and root planing, recession that needs a graft to cover an exposed root, and bone loss deep enough to need surgical access. He places surgical dental implants and performs the soft tissue and bone grafting that makes a site suitable for one, including sinus lifts. Having a board-certified periodontist on staff means these cases are treated in-house, with the general dentists here designing and delivering the final crown, rather than being referred out and coordinated across two practices.
