Dental implants in Lincoln Park

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw that fuses with the bone over a few months and supports a permanent replacement tooth, bridge, or full arch.

Our Lincoln Park office is set up as a one-stop implant practice. Diagnosis, surgical placement, and the final crown are all handled in the same building, by the same team, on North Avenue at the Sheffield corner.

Implants are placed by our board-certified periodontist and Professor and Head of Periodontics at the UIC College of Dentistry. They work alongside the general dentists who will plan your final crown, so the conversation about how the tooth should look happens before the implant goes in, not after.

If the area needs bone grafting, sinus lift, or soft-tissue work, we can do that here too. Most patients come for a consult first; we use a 3D scan to map the bone, walk through the timeline (typically 3–6 months from placement to final crown), and quote the cost in writing before anything is scheduled.

Who it's a good fit for

  • You want one team handling the whole implant process near Lincoln Park or the North Side
  • You're missing one tooth and want a dental implant that doesn't touch the neighboring teeth
  • You're missing several teeth and have been told you need a bridge or partial denture
  • You wear a denture that slips, clicks, or limits what you can eat
  • You've been told you don't have enough bone. We do bone grafting in-house and can usually solve this
  • You want one team handling the whole process, from diagnosis to final crown

What to expect

  1. Consultation: 3D cone-beam scan, exam, written treatment plan with cost
  2. If needed: bone graft or sinus lift (4–6 months to integrate)
  3. Implant placement: a single appointment, typically under local anesthetic
  4. Healing: 3–6 months while the implant fuses to the bone
  5. Final crown: digital impression + permanent crown delivered in one or two visits

Common questions

Where do I park for an implant consult or surgery?
There's a parking deck just south of North Avenue on Sheffield. Use the third-floor lobby entrance and take the second set of elevators (past the FFC Gym) to the 8th floor. Register your plate with Legacy Parking (mobile app or https://www.legacyparking.com/) before you arrive, then ask the front desk for a QR code at check-in for one complimentary hour and a discounted garage rate if you stay longer.
How long does an implant take from start to finish?
Most cases run 3–6 months from placement to final crown, plus another 4–6 months upfront if grafting is needed. Same-day temporaries are possible in select cases.
Is the implant surgery painful?
Most patients report less discomfort than a routine extraction. We use local anesthetic during placement; oral and IV sedation are available for anxious patients.
Do you take insurance for implants?
Many medical and dental plans cover part of the implant cost. We verify benefits in advance and offer financing through Care Credit and Cherry for the rest.
Can I get an implant if I've been told my bone is too thin?
Usually yes. Bone grafting and sinus lift are common in-house procedures here. Our periodontist handles complex grafting cases regularly. We'll know after a 3D scan at the consult.
