- Can you see me today?
- Almost always, yes. We hold same-day emergency slots at both offices, six days a week. Call the closest location and we'll triage by phone.
- What counts as a dental emergency?
- Severe pain, swelling, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, lost crown or filling causing pain, or any infection. If you have facial swelling with fever or trouble breathing, that's a medical emergency. Go to an ER first.
- What if it's after hours?
- Leave a voicemail at the office closest to you and we'll get back to you as soon as we open. For severe symptoms (high fever, swelling that affects breathing, uncontrolled bleeding), use the nearest urgent care or ER.
- When should I go to the ER instead of calling you?
- Go straight to the emergency room for difficulty breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or facial swelling with a high fever, since those can be life-threatening. For a severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, or an abscess, call us instead: we hold same-day slots six days a week at both offices.
- Will my insurance cover an emergency visit?
- Most dental plans cover emergency exams, x-rays, and palliative treatment. We'll confirm benefits before treatment so you know what's covered.
- Do I need to be an existing patient to be seen for an emergency?
- No. We see new patients for same-day emergencies regularly. Call the office closest to you, briefly describe what's going on, and we'll fit you in. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card if you have one.
- Is an emergency dental visit FSA or HSA eligible?
- Yes. Emergency dental exams, x-rays, and treatment for pain or trauma are all eligible expenses under FSA and HSA accounts. Bring your account card to your visit.
